Shropshire were still in the proverbial changing rooms when this years event got under way with Warwickshire storming into a 3-0 lead within the first 10 minutes, as the Shropshire defence couldn't cope with the pace of the Warwickshire forwards. In the second half Shropshire started to get on top of the game and pulled the first goal back with a fine short corner drag flick from captain Mark Siddorn.  Shropshire continued to apply the pressure but couldn't create many chances. Their second goal came from a shot from Sammy Mee, just inside the D on the left, which took a wicked deflection and looped high over the keeper and defenders into the net. Despite their efforts Shropshire were unable to save the game and it ended 3-2 to Warwickshire.

In the second game Warwickshire, still recovering from their encounter with Shropshire, went two goals down to a fresh Staffordshire team. But as the game went on their strength returned as they pulled the scores level and then moved into a 4-2 lead, the final score.

With Warwickshire having secured the title the final match was just for honour and Shropshire seemed to want it more. Captain Mark Siddorn opened the scoring with a repeat drag flick to top left. He manufactured the second goal with a surging run from his own half to set up a tap-in for Andrew Stott. In the second half it was a new name on the score sheet when Peter Daborn's cross found the back of the net off a defenders stick. From a comfortable 3-0 up Shropshire contrived to allow Staffs back into the game with two goals in quick succession but they held out in the end.

Many thanks to the umpires: David Fellows, Tim Benford and Adrian Mansfield; and to the coaches, managers and supportive parents.
