Men's U21 Match Reports

bulletShropshire U21's at MRHA County Championships 2004
After having high hopes of doing well this year, Shropshire came up against the eventual winners, Notts, in their first game. Despite taking an early 2-0 lead through Alex Johnson Shropshire found themselves under tremendous pressure from a very good Notts team who pulled one goal back just before half time. Notts scored three more in the second half to win the game quite convincingly. In the second game things went from bad to worse as they lost 7-0 to an average Warwickshire side. Put bluntly this was a very poor performance and left them to play Leicestershire for the 5/6th place. However, they restored some pride as they ran out comprehensive winners 7-3. Alex Johnson added four goals to his tally with David Tracey getting a couple and Tom Fisher the other.

Manager Roger Furniss said: "There were some good individual performances but we didn't play to out potential as a team. We looked nervous and as though the occasion go to some of the lads. But they were all dreadfully disappointed because they worked very hard in the build up and it wasn't their day."
