bulletAge Qualifications - For all county representative, regional and national hockey the qualifying date is based on 1 January of the season. Regional and national seasons run Jan to Dec so this is obvious. However, for counties the season runs across January so the qualification is based on that mid-season January, so for 2007-8 it is 1 Jan 2008. So U14 players for Autumn 2007 will have to have be U14 on 1 Jan 2008, ie born 1994 or later. This does remove the previous anomaly where born Sept-Dec could play U15 for their county but not region. For competitions that involve school teams the age qualification is still based upon 1 September at the start of the season, ie school years with year 8 equating to U13 etc.
bulletSchools Competitions - The main competitions are:-
bulletMini Hockey Tournaments for Girls and Boys at U11 and U13 held in Feb/Mar. These are run by the respective Girls and Boys Schools & Youth Committees. Please refer to the links above. The four winning teams go forward to represent Shropshire in the regional tournament.

bulletShropshire School Boys competitions at U14, U15, U16 and U19. Run by Graham Moore until he 'retired', they are now run by the SHA Boys Schools and Youth Committee.
bulletNational Schools Championship for Girls. A national competition with regional and county rounds at U16 and U18. County round organised by the SHA Girls Schools and Youth Committee.
